ADA 212 Transformation !?!?!?

Ok guys I have an idea and I wonder if its a bad one.

I have one of these ADA 212 Slant Cabs made for guitar

It was covered in rat fur that had been shredded by my cats so I decided that I was going to pull the cab apart and get rid of the rat fur and do a coat duratex. However, I got an idea....

I don't really play guitar any more so why don't turn this into a bass cab?

My plan would be to turn this into a sealed 1x12 cab since I do not think that this cab would have enough internal volume to be a 2x12 cab and still sound good for bass. I would seal up the hole for the bottom speaker. I don't care for tweeters so that's out. This would just be for home uses so I'm not to concerned about weight.

If any of you knows how to use that program to help chose a speaker I would be most grateful for your assistance. Here are the dimensions Depth 14" Width 15" Height 29". 11.7 degree slope on slant cabinet.

So am I crazy or is this a reasonable Idea?

Sounds reasonable for a home/lower volume cab. I did this with an older tuck n roll Kustom 2x12" cab. They used the same design for both guitar and bass. I loaded it with a 12" Hydrive and a 12" Scorpion. It sounds good enough for me.

ok so I have been doing some maths and I think I have come up with a cabinet vol of like 2.75 ft. The slant top is weird and i have not been able to sit down and properly measure it. I'm thinking that I'm going to get one of these

I think you might prefer (greatly) that cabinet with 2 of those drivers. There's just about the right volume for 2 drivers in a sealed box to get acceptable response, better than a single driver imo.

I agree. Two 12" will most likely sound better than one. My Kustom cab sounds great and is pretty close to these ADA cabs in internal volume-it's roughly 3.5 cubic feet. It does have the two (factory) 2.5" wide by 3" deep ports and was lined with insulation, which I didn't change or modify since the cab sounded and performed fine when reloaded and played at gig volumes. FWIW, I use an older Peavey Century 200 head on it. 100 watts and set to have an older tone, not deep lows, but low mid punch.
