Fender P Bass with no knobs?

I saw this on the Guitar Center website. It was a custom shop build with a hidden '72 Humbucker under the pick guard and no volume or tone knob.

It kind of looks like a less sexy Joe Dart Vision...

To finish the look, I would have attached the pickguard with magnets instead of screws.

Now i'm thinking about a piezo-bridge-equipped bass with built in bluetooth AND wireless charging...

It looks like the COA is from 2012, but the Shop Floor Traveler is from 2025. I think they probably identified how the pick guard was to be attached on the original form.

P-bass with no knobs. Unusual but not particularly remarkable IMHO. I usually run volume and tone on passive basses wide open; so it would suit me just fine. However, I would want a mute switch...which is what I usually use the volume for.

Pickup hidden under pick guard? I have to wonder how well the pickup would work with the pole pieces that far from the strings. My guess is not very. The first thought that comes to mind: Whyyyyyyyy?

Maybe they really liked the idea of a ramp and figured a pickguard against the strings would be a super ramp?
