Adam Clayton Jazz

I am interested to see what you think of it. I am glad they are getting away from Japan and making some artist series basses in America.

I personally like the basses they made in Japan. The Geddy Lee models before they shifted to Mexico were absolute beasts. On par with American Standards in quality and sometimes sound.

If I couldn't afford a normal American Fender, I most certainly won't be able to afford a signature model made in the US. Welp

Yes they are. A little something to eat before going on. Never go hungry before a show.

Picked up my Adam Clayton Jazz last week and use it for the 1st gig last night. What better way to break in a new green bass then at a St. Patrick's Day party. I am very happy with my new bass. It sounds and looks fantastic. My number one first impression is the fretboard feel and really love the vintage frets. The built is custom shop quality. Had many compliments on the bass thru the night. Very happy and is my new #1.View attachment 577366

Nice! I like what you're running it through also. Very cool!

Welp

I have a MIJ Geddy Lee and its workmanship is impeccable. Its super slim neck is ultra stable. I adjusted the truss rod to get a neck relief that I wanted right after I bought it in 2004. I've never had to adjust the truss rod since then.

I MIJ Geddy Lee walked into to the guitar shop I work in last week that was in like new condition. We bought it and after changing out the dead strings I bought from the shop. I was planning on getting a Adam Clayton Jazz but the Geddy Lee was just to good to pass up. And on top of everything it saved me a ton of money and is a absolute dream to play. I still love the look of the Adam Clayton but I want be getting one anytime soon

Hey thanks mrnylon, I run the TH500 with 2 cabs for big shows and use my GK MB200 with one cab at small shows. I will say the Hydrive cabs are under rated. I really like their tone, they are 30lbs, and the ohm switch make they so versatile.

I also had a CIJ Geddy Lee and will agree with all posters that their quality when they where made in Japan was up to par with any American made Fender. I recall the neck was super fast. I wish I still had mine as the Mexican ones are just not same. Bad move by Fender to move the production of the Geddy to Mexico IMO.

Brent, yes I have seen Adam play his Fender signature on the Tonight show with Jimmy Fallon and cool to hear that he used the bass on tour also. I really love this bass, still impressed with the quality build and has been my #1 since I picked it up. And agree Adam is a cool laid back guy, hey all those years of fame with U2 and still a down to earth guy.

Sooooo besides block inlays and a green color what makes it worth $300 more than an American Standard Jazz Bass? For the same price you could get the deluxe with a binded neck and active/passive pickups.

I will say it is a very nice color but I hate when they put the signature of the artist on the bass.

Yes, I love this bass as well. It's my #1 Jazz bass. I started a club for it here a while back if anyone sees this and wants to post photos in it.

Regarding the pick guard, I think Tort looks good on almost anything, but I'll keep mine pearly. I've fantasized about adding pickup covers for a retro look, but again, I'll never actually do it.
