That's my jam! Man, I am thinking of the many afternoons I spent in Allston, MA with my roommates Drew Parsons (bass player for American Hi Fi, Miley Crus, Tracey Bonham) and Fred Eltringham (drummer for the Dixie Chicks, Wallflowers, K.D. Lang, Sheryl Crow) listening to the Beastie Boys and keeping Drew from actually attending class at the college he was enrolled at. I recall listening to Paul's Boutique with a weird kind of haze in the room and saying "Naw man, you should sell that snowboard, Drew. I know a guy who has a Musicman bass for sale, that's what you should do."
I don't know I've overplayed any cd more than Paul's Boutique. This sucks big time, I was borderline obsessed with Beasties growing up.
RIP MCA...Paul's Boutique and License to Ill are two of my all time favorite albums. Very sad to hear this
Rhymin' and stealin' in a drunken state, and he'll be rockin' his rhymes all the way to Hell's gate. RIP. 
Just heard....Very sad..... I know the Beastie Boys influenced most of us...probably more than we even realize. He will be missed....
Paul's Boutique was so far ahead of it's time, it took almost 20 years for it to really get the recognition for the greatness it deserved. From rhymes to production, this set the standard for the genre for a long time. Beck owes a ton to that record.

The Beastie Boys are highly underrated as musicians. Most people think Fight for Your Right. Hardly anyone I know thinks The In Sound From Way Out or The Mix Up. Adam Yauch may not have been as flashy as the likes of Victor Wooten, but he was still and incredible player and an inspiration to many, myself included.
