Adding a laminate top?

ok, I have a nutty idea, but i'm sure i'm not the first one.

I have an extra t40 body lying around. it's slightly beat up on the top, nothing special.

I'd like to plain it, add a laminate top, and have a flame maple (or spalted redwood) t40. I'm also thinking of doing a sunburst if i do the flame maple.

I think I have it worked out in my mind HOW to do the job, but I'm wondering where the best place to get really nice topwoods would be.

where can i shop on the net for something like that?

ebay works alright if u spend a day ot two browsing. Gallery hardwoods is another option.

I have had this idea for quite a while, and it's funny cause I just thought about posting my idea hear in the Luthiers forum tonight and saw this post. Thanks for posting it. I was thinking of adding a nice top to my old Squire Bullet Bass.
