Adding Fret lines?

I recently bought a new bass. A fretless Swan Song Bass but I got it without lines. I have roughly 4 years of electric experience and a little bit of upright. Any ideas. I want something removable and I only really need it on the octave (12th fret) and maybe the Fifth. It cannot hurt this bass!

From what I've heard, traditional lines are plastic inlayed in the fingerboard, so that's out of the question. You could do a little tape piece or something at the 12th if you know the scale length.

yeah thats what I'm thinking. There is that tape they use on upright instrunments I was just wondering if that will leave a very not tasty resadue

I don't know. I'd think painter's tape wouldn't leave much of a residue, but I'd wait for someone more experienced to chime in.

Painters tape may if you leave it on too long, but i don't think it would be hard to get off. But, in my experience, the gook is usually on the tape and not whatever is taped.

I'd also love to know. I've been wanting a fretless bass for a while, but have been passing up on a ton of deals on used unlined fretless basses because I want the lines.

Does it have the dots on the fret(less)board edge?

If not grab some white out and find those harmonics then put the dots on yourself
