Double Bass Adjustable bridge for newbie?

I have an Upton laminate on order and it will probably arrive some time in March. As I've not played before (though I have acquired an instructor), does it make any sense for me to get an adjustable bridge? Eric at Upton knows about my zero experience level, so I can only assume that there's a common height for strings to be off the fingerboard.

I think that if you live in a place that has weather, with temperatures and humidities that go up and down, then an adjustable bridge is a great thing to have.

Yes, indeed, get an adjustable bridge. It's not only good for adjustments as seasons change. In fact, seasonal changes are far less of an issue with a laminate as compared to a carved bass. Perhaps more important, adjusters allow you to zero-in on what's comfortable for you, especially given that that might change over the next several years. I've found that small rotations of the adjusters (1/4 turn or so) can sometimes make a noticeable difference although one would be hard pressed to measure those small changes in string height with anything short of a precision caliper. The hands know! So even if you set the adjusters and virtually never move them, IMO, adjusters are well worth it because you can get the strings right where you want them.
