Have to keep it running somehow... if they didn't use ads, TB couldn't be paid for, and it'd be a lot worse that you didn't have your forum home anymore. SO, use my solution. Firefox, and use an add-on called AdBlock Plus Firefox edition. I use it for clutter free (and faster browsing)

Running a propular online discussion forum isn't free. I'm not quite sure about this, but I imagine that the ads generate revenue for talkbass.com.
