He doesn't seem to have any motif than any squirrel that I've ever seen.

I wondered if it was a fluke, or if those people really did all come to see us because of our promotion...
It was probably just a fluke, but who knows? Unless you asked everyone what motivated them to come to the show, all you can do is guess.

Facebook ads should also have a bunch of metrics -- ad impressions, location, clicks etc. E.g. See if you can correlate metrics to attendance, that might suggest a success.

I'd add that the only sure thing is that "there are no sure things." ;) Facebook may work great one week, and terribly the next.

As we speak, Facebook is changing its approach from being a place to follow friends into an algorithmically driven engine designed to show you what the AI says you will like to see from complete strangers. Basically it's mimicking TickTok. Facebook advertising is in a dive and it's hard to see how the new model will serve musicians hoping to scrape up a few more beer drinkers for their bar gigs.

I tend to target gigs that are established, in that they have their own audience because music is known to work there, plus a FB event is about enough we'd do.

Everyone has a profile so there is often interest there and then you need to deliver to build for next time.
I recall, before SM, the circuit used to take 18months to buid a good draw reputation.
But that was at a time when there were so many venues doing gigs almost every night of the week.
The market is nowhere near that level now but some towns can have 5 plus gigs on friday, sats and sundays with many places doing all 3 sessions.
Those are the places that have music working.

So, a combination of known music venue and decent known band should do it.

The music venue MO has changed a lot these last 2 years.
