Advice on new band opportunity

Firstly to give this thing a bit of context - I've been playing bass about 5 years, I'm a finger player and I play mostly rock. I love metal and that's where I want to get to, but I need to seriously work on my speed first. I'm determined to be able to play metal speed with fingers, but I know that will take time and graft. Sounds absolutely killer! To your ears is this 8th or 16th notes on bass? Could I get away with playing 8th notes with music like this? I can't currently play 16ths hence why I ask.

Why don't you ask them for some bass-less tracks so you are able to see what you can do for the music.

Unless it is something legendary Another One Bites the Dust, Crazy Train, Money, etc., there is nothing written in stone saying that you must do the same exact thing that the previous bass player has done.
