Advice on small cab... replacing Ampeg SVT410HE

Hey fellow bassists,
I would like some advice...
At this moment I have a Markbass Little Mark iii and an Ampeg SVT410HE cab.

I love the sound of it, but here is my "problem":
Mostly I play in small venues, churches etc. Usually with PA. My amp really is nothing much more than my stage monitor.

Even with the volume very low, it seems my rig is producing quite some volume in the venue, but leaves me without hearing myself properly on stage.

Could it be that with the 4x10" cab, there is always a lot of air being moved compared to, say, a 1x12" cab?

Would changing to a single 12" cab help me to be able to hear myself, but without messing the sound in the venue itself?
In other words, would a 12" give me a more defined sound, audible for me but not as much for the audience?

Sounds like an interesting concept, but how do you power it? I've seen the pics on the Phil Jones website, but the box doesn't even tell you how many ohms or watts it has on the back.

On edit: I've found the specifications. It says 340 ohms??? What happens if I connect an 8 ohm large speaker cabinett and this box to my amp?

Yeah, it's a very interesting concept...and it works very well (at least for me).

In order to answer your questions, let me quote PJB web page: "Ear Box has virtually no load on an amplifier. .......The Ear Box high impedance allows it to be connected to just about any bass amplifier, right up to 1000 watt RMS output!"

You just power it by connecting to your amplifier (as any other speaker cab). You don't have to worry about overpowering Ear Box unless your amp puts out more than 1000 watts RMS (which is rare).

Connecting an 8ohm large speaker cabinet and Ear Box to your amp is absolutely fine (unless your amp puts out more than 1000w RMS).

The reason why I suggested Ear Box to OP in this thread is that it allows me to hear myself properly on stage without playing loud...

Yeah... get the cab off the floor and pointed at your ears.

A smaller cab - 112 or even 110 - especially one of the current technology cabs would be more than enough. Indeed, the top ones would be enough to cover the room without PA.

I use a single Genzler - usually the BA12-3 but sometimes even the BA10-2 without PA coverage in churches a little smaller than yours and they are more than enough.
