Advice on strings

Good day or night to all: I have a 1967 Guild Starfire II bass. I had been using Thomastik JF324 Short Scale Flatwounds, but just got a set of La Bella Deep Talkin 0760M Flats. I like the La Bellas since they give the bass a lot more punch. They also seem to have a lot more tension (I guess that accounts for the punch, eh?). I had to lower the bridge on the Guild a lot in order to get the action comfortable. I still like the sound, but I don't like the tension and the extra work to fret. So, any suggestions for something with more punch than the Thomastiks but less tension than the La Bellas? Thanks in advance!

You have the heaviest tension La Bella set they make... They also make Extra Light, Light, Standard and Medium as well in Short Scale... Give one of those a shot!

Ya, lighten up your gauges. They're still going to be stiffer than TI's but the tension will be reduced and it won't be like playing on phone pole wire.

Thanks to everyone for chiming in. I'm going to try some lighter gauges. My 56 year old fingers and wrist just can't stand the strain.
