Is there anyone in here who can tell me more about Kalindula Bass from Zambia and East Congo? I've read what Wikipedia and google have to offer but that's not a lot. I've recently been to Zambia and my interest is peaked, because they have a interesting apporoach to bass with intricate syncopic improvised rhytms. Supposedly this goes back to several traditional music styles in wich a makeshift large acoustic bass guitar plays a big role. At present time this bass is integrated in al kinds of urban, dance hall, gospell, highlife and rumba music. I could mostly tell Zambian music from Zimbabwe or Malawi because of the busy basslines. I'm still trying to make sense of what I've heard and cannot yet find a logic that would help me duplicate that style.
