Thompson wants students to learn to appreciate the role all instruments play.

"You may not notice the bass guitar in your favorite song, but if you take it out digitally, you'll miss it," he said.

Nice way to fit that in, and a very cool article in general. I think that's an awesome idea, because it will definently hold kid's interests longer than just musical theory 1 on 1, like you said. I don't have any old beater stuff to send ya, unfortunately.
