Aggie/GK or SVT?

Medium pub ? My fave sounds from my old 70's SVT and towel bar cab were with it wound up pretty high. I was on fairly large stages then... In what I consider a medium sized pub, that would be way to freakin' loud... I'd take the combo, leave the extension cab home and carry a good DI... Let the FOH do the heavy lifting.

The Live Sound, name of this forum is misinterpreted a lot ... Or maybe we who are focused on pa didn't get the original intent ?
Anyhow a wound up SVT is not an amp I would consider appriopriate in any room I would term a PUB... I am so over head banging volume on stage.

Yeah it is hard to give someone an answer when they say medium sized. Compared to what? In my area the biggest bar holds maybe 250 people the smallest about 50. Judging from the 2 rigs the OP posted I would take just the aguilar combo. Adding the GK makes the whole thing look like crap IMO because it isn't a matched set up. If the band is going to be stupid loud then take the ampeg . It at least looks nice.
The Aggie 212 should do the trick if the pub is a 50 person or less pub. If its closer to 100 people I'd bring the SVT and keep the volume way down.
Edit: for the record, I've been in some medium size pubs in the Newcastle area on a Friday night that were so over packed with people there was standing room only (packed shoulder to shoulder) and a line out the door. No one was really there to hear the music or dance, it was purely an alcohol consuming social affair where the crowd was louder than the band. I've also been in large pubs in other areas of England where it was much more a dining and evening out affair where a coffee house rig would suffice.
So don't let the size of the pub be your deciding factor, let the size and type of crowd drive your decision. Big rowdy crowd - bring a big rowdy rig. Small polite crowd - bring a small polite rig.

This thread makes me want to load my SVT up for tonight's gig even though the venue is kind of small. Two things you have to remember about SVT's:
1. They have volume knobs
2. Bigger cabs are always better for bass 100% of the time

Well when your biggest combo is only 75 watts you might need to bring a full sized amp.

Nope. I said there was a PA for vocals. Not big enough for instruments reinforced by the PA as well.Yet you stat this thread in the forum that deals with PA support.
I scanned the Disreali Gears cover and had a sticker/decal made and trimmed it to fit.

Thanks for all the great input everybody. Ya, I know the 2x12 GK isn't the ideal Aggie extension cab, but being in Canada, the Aggie 2x12 price is obscene. The used 2x12 combo was a one-tune lucky break on a trade in.
