Aguilar AG700 running 2 cabs

2/3 of amp output (at 2.67 ohms) will go to the 1x12, and 1/3 will go to the 1x15.

Does the amp support 2.67 ohm loads?

If it can, you're not breaking any rules, but the power distribution will be strange. This 4+8 ohm setup isn't one I'd try. Something like a 4 ohm 4x10 and 8 ohm 2x10 makes sense, for example.

From the website for the AG 700:
Power Output: 700 watts @ 2.67 or 4 ohms, 350 watts @ 8 ohms
Approximately 466 watts will go to the 112, and 233 watts to the 115.
The SL112 is only rated for 250 watts, but the website shows it as an 8 ohms cabinet. Are you sure yours is 4 ohms? Either way, it would be readily overpowered by that amp. Did you mean the SL212?
The SL115 is rated for 400 watts at 8 ohms, which is a good match.

yes it’s a SL 212
Thanks

If you already have the 212 (4 ohms, 500 watts) and wanted to add a 112 (8 ohms, 250 watts), that'd match-up great, power-wise, and almost certainly match well in terms of tone, etc.

The 115 (8 ohms, 400 watts) should work well, power-wise, with the 212 (each driver should get roughly equal power -- up to 230-odd watts -- and it won't hurt anything that the 15 can handle a little more than the 12s) and it's possible that you'll like it even more with the 212 than you would an additional 12, but I don't know for sure how they'd play together, sonically.

It'd make sense that Aguilar would design the SL series cabs to mix-and-match well with each other, but you might try asking in one of the Aguilar threads if anyone's used the 12s and 15s together and how they liked them. You might also try shooting Aguilar a note and see what they say.

If there's somewhere with a 115 that you can take your 212 and try them together, that'd be ideal (and, then, if you pick up the 115, it'd be nice if you got it from them), but, short of that, asking around and doing your research, as you are, is the best you can do.

The 15 should be more capable on its own than an SL112 would be (and there is a review of it, on Sweetwater, from someone who owns both the 112 and 115 that says as much, but the reviewer doesn't comment on how they might work together).

Specs on the Aguilar site put the sensitivity figures for the 112 and 115 within a dB of each other, so each driver should contribute roughly equally to the mix with a 212 and 115.

Another thing -- the 115 is listed as being about 2.5" shallower than the 112 and 212 -- don't know if that'd affect how you stack them, but worth looking into.

Note: Specs on the Aguilar site and on Sweetwater only refer to the SL112 and SL115 in 8 ohms, but I saw some old posts refer to them in 4 or 8 ohms -- don't know if that was accurate, but I'd confirm I was getting an 8 ohm 112 or 115 before buying.

Sorry,
Little hijacking your thread. I’m wondering to change my Mesa M6 & PH412 setup to Aguilar AG700 & SL 212+112. Mesa is a killer and works prefectly with my loud rock band…but the weight. Have somebody tested both of the mentioned rigs? Any opinion about the volume & ”force” wise? Will I miss Mesas stupidly loud and fat sound

If you are happy with the M6 and PH-410, you might look into the Subway D-800+ and the Subway 410. These are the direct replacements for what you currently have, the deep/bright switches and voicing control are similar to (but more flexible than) the voicing switch on the Carbine series.
