Aguilar Amplification® Announces the Super Double Pickups™

New York, NY—Aguilar is pleased to announce the Super Double™ pickups.

Available for four, five and six string basses, the Super Double pickups feature two rows of Alnico 5 pole pieces that create a thick yet articulate tone, complete with hum-canceling performance. Paired with Aguilar’s OBP-1, 2 or 3 onboard preamp, bassists will have an aggressive and rich tone palette.

Like all Aguilar pickups, the Super Double pickups are wound in Aguilar’s NYC factory. They feature 42-gauge Formvar wire and Alnico 5 magnets and are a direct replacement for many standard soap bar sizes.

The Super Double pickups will be shipping early April with a US street price of $195 for the 4 string model, $225 for the 5 string model, and $255 for the 6 string model.

Disappointed that both these and the Super Singles are only available in Bart replacement sizes. The DCB's come in EMG sizes....why can't these?

Agree completely!!

However, you may want to contact Aguilar directly to see if they can do something for you. All the pickups are handmade at the NYC office. After talking with Marco, I got the impression that they might be receptive to some slightly custom work, within reason.

Thanks for that, I reached out to them about more info after seeing pictures at NAMM and hadn't thought to ask since the specs hadn't been released.

Another note: these are NOT split-able at all, just like the DCB's.

I wouldn't think so. Aguilar doesn't do custom work (at least that's what I was told) and their soapbars wouldn't fit the rout exactly and you'd still have the dog ears left over.

Curtis Novak would be the guy I'd try first.
