Aguilar announcement

Does anyone know if Aguliar stuck with Speakon NL4, or did they jump ship to NL2 like Markbass 58R and Ampeg Venture?
I think I read NL4:

I’m eyeing that AG500 due to its compact size and ability to run 3 8-ohm cabs. I have 3 DB112 cabs that would be a great match for that head - though I’m not in any bands, and have zero use for it. My old school AG500 (dual channel) is still doing great.(but can only power 2 cabs - leaving no speakers pointing at my ankles. Won’t somebody think of the ankles! hahaha)

Not sure why the DB112 cabs only have one neutrik style connector, and two 1/4” jacks. I’d have to daisy chain the 3 cabs using 1/4” jacks. (I can go neutrik to 1/4”, but if I’m using 1/4” anyways, I’ll just go 1/4” to 1/4” like it’s 1972.). ;)

I really though that Aguilar was going to announce a new preamp pedal or at least a new and actualized version of the Tone Hammer.

Actually the trend its to go ampless on the bass rigs and even on guitar ones! So maybe this new head amps with that huge watts wasn't what the Aguilar lovers (like me) want to see.

That said, I see improvementes on the new Tone Hammer like the IR Simulation, so I still hope that in a future they'll launche a new version of the DI/Preamp pedal with this new specs.

Long live the Tone Hammer! :bassist:

The inclusion of IR’s is an interesting choice, especially on the TH amp. There are threads full of information showing that the drive control rolls off extreme high and low frequencies…like a cab sim. I use the THDI for my IEM feed and the AGS circuit sounds great. Very amp-like.

Yeah, I don't feel the need to use cab sim with my THDI either...

I'm going to pile on with a +1 to this thought. One of the cool things about the TH that sort of justified its steeper than usual amp learning curve was that it offered a broad range of tone shaping that included a cab type aspect to it.

Eublet mentioned this many times in his excellent posts about using the TH to its fullest potential without suffering extreme frustration. :)

That's my hope as well! I would love to see the pedal TH with the new features. I would imagine it would look similar to some of the Darkglass offerings that include the cab sim, aux in and headphone out. Microtubes Vintage Ultra V2 etc.

I think a v2 TH DI with IR is bound to happen in the near future.

the question is would there be a second volume knob for the AGS, and a drive knob?
