I was looking into preamp pedals and saw that Thomann stopped carrying this model and B&H calls it Invalid Link Removed - and B&H often notes hardware discontinuations quickly, before other retailers. There's still a lot of inventory with other retailers, so I'm wondering if anyone has heard about it.

I would bet that they are working on a revision or update of that model, whether or not that is wise. I could see adding a level or volume control would be useful.
I think it sounds great and could make a very usable always-on boost for the front of the board. But the price is a bit steep for what you get, and I see it's also out of stock on Aguilar's website so I'm wondering if it's worth snagging or waiting for some upcoming revision. (Plus there is quality direct competition like the cheaper but bigger Sadowsky SPB-2 which can take a battery and has a Volume knob.)
FWIW both of those are their renowned on board bass preamps in a box those of us that prefer passive basses unmodified, both are fine boxes I have used in the past but no longer own.
The DB925 sounds a little different than the Sadowsky, specially in the highs, tho they're practically identical (minus the volume knob).
The DB925 is one of my favorite tone shapers, and even pedals. I use it more at the end of my chain, always on (so I don't miss a volume control), and makes everything better. It's not just an EQ; the FET circuitry and the broadband eq is really a thing of beauty. Very, very musical. And the size is great. I think it's a very overlooked tool.

I have the DB 925 first in signal chain on my board, it's a great product as I don't want to modify my vintage Jazz Bass, but the original single coil pickups aren't very loud. With a small bass boost dialed on the Aguilar the tone is fuller and more firm and the synth and octave pedals read the notes better.
I'm looking to get a passive Yamaha PJ hopefully this weekend if I can get a sale coupon, so I've been looking at pre-boosts for that purpose.
