Aguilar DB or GS

:D Must be on something^^^

DB's are the "middier" of the group and are voiced that way to have a more vintage kind of feel and sound. The GS cabs are more Hi-Fi and modern sounding. I went back to the GS cabs too after a little stint with some DB's. They look cool but weren't for me.

Countrybassist - how is that DB112 working out? I saw you posted you have two now?

I admit, I like the looks of the DB series, but the GS series absolutely defines the AGUILAR sound to me.

Admittedly, I just know my GS 210 cab (well), but its not as mid scooped as generally portrayed and I hate that honky mid hump. If I use it as party PA cab (I know, and I apologize to the more puritan souls out there) I need very little EQ to have a really nice sound of it.....

Gs is more middy.

Oh man! Don't ruin it for us...there's only one thing on TalkBass that everyone seems to agree on, and that's that the GS is less "middy" than the DB series. :D

I've certainly found that to be true, owning the two. But I also found that I could make one sound like the other via the high and low mid knobs on the AG500; they seem to match right up.

I can get 2 DB 112's at a really good price, I'm wondering if anyone has used a GS112/DB112 cab setup on a gig?

I currently use 2 GS112's with my Crest CA9/Demeter HBP-1 rack. My main bass is a Ristola-6, my backup is a Mike Lull J-style 5-string. I play mainly Classic Rock, I'd say the tone I shoot for is in the ballpark of John Paul Jones, I'm a fingerstyle player.

I really like my GS112's, IMO they put out a lot of volume, and they handle a low B-string very well. I don't personally find them scooped in the low-mids region, especially with my Demeter's parametric eq. I've been looking into adding 2 more 1-12" cabs for when I play large rooms and outdoor gigs; I rarely have the benefit of PA support.

Does anyone have any thoughts on a DB112/GS112 cab setup? If I pull the trigger on the pair of DB's, I'd most likely be running the 2 DB112's with my 2 GS112's. :bassist:

Thanks in advance for the replies. :)

Still trying: Does anyone gig (or has gigged) with a GS112/DB112 cab setup? I'd hate to pass on these 2 reasonably priced DB112's (in Monster Green to boot!).

Yes, I gigged with two GS112s and two DB112s once. It worked very well. I ran a DB750 into them. Sounded great and I got many compliments on the rig. This was an outdoor gig. I don't know how well it would work indoors with everything bouncing around. But on this one occasion they sounded great together. They compliment each other well, IMO.

This is what I was hoping to hear, thank you so much!
