So, after testing a few smaller DB cabinets (the DB112) I decided that even though they are still fairly heavy cabs, I wanted some Aguilar. But the 2 x DB112 stack isnt enough for my volumes...maybe small gigs but not all of them. So...looking at two DB212s

I am currently selling / trading my Ampeg 810E due to the fact its too hard to get around, and also, I dont know if it ever screamed 'wow' at me. I bought it after hearing reviews...and yeah its a tank, it punches...but I tried a few more out recently, old and new, at loud volumes, and something wasnt perfect.

I am not only impressed by Aguilars cust service so far, but the 12s in their cabs sound great :)

So, I am now going for 12s....in the form of 2 DB212s in Choc Thunder.

Ive heard they go well with Markbass and Orange (my two amps) so it should be good.

Do you think this setup will work out? One DB212 for smaller gigs and practice, two for medium venues, etc.

I would have kept the Ampeg...but...I dunno...Ive lost faith.

To be fair I've not played through an Aggie cabinet. I would not expect that a single 12 or even a pair would be able to keep pace with a guitar player using two or four 12s. On the other hand, I continue to be startled by what I can do using a modern 2x10, Acme B2. I still wouldn't gig with just one but possibly for the gigs you do the 12s might work.

Those are great 112's, but are still 112's. In general, the volume of two high quality 112's is right where you would think.... louder and fuller than a 210, but not the punch, volume and 'open tone' of an equal quality 410.

I found my two DB112's gave me about 80% of the presence and volume of my 410 cabs, with the same head running at the same impedance. That meant these were find for most situations, and only 'gave up the ghost' in extremely loud situations, especially using aggressive playing techniques (like really digging in at the neck or slapping).

Going from a big 810 to two 112's... not sure. I've never been impressed with those sealed fridge type cabs, but they can get loud.

Nowhere to test :(...had the same experience with the Ampeg....looked good on paper...got annoyed when I realised they had changed the manufacturing etc. But...it was too late. Then I see everyone selling them off cheap and switching.

But I have tested the 1x12s...they were very warm, punchy and full. The shop owners friend uses 2 DB212s and he said sometimes using 2 can be overkill....but excellent fun :)

I don't know... I can see buying one cab as a risk - but the whole rig, given how picky folks are about tone...

I bought a GS2x12 a while back on a whim - a guy had it on the TB Classifieds for pretty cheap (under $400, as I recall). Makes a good mid-sized gig rig - fairly light, good tone and plenty of bass... But the DBs are quite a bit more $$, yes?

I dunno... I'd have to play first. That's just me... I'm funny about money.

I only have 1 rig, a DB750/DB212. As much as I would love to get another DB212, it's purely a want and not a need - It would just look so cool! This is set up is loud - the cab really projects specially with the midrange response, I haven't been able to turn it up past 10 o'clock on an average gig... Without PA support. I play venues of various shapes and sizes in and around Los Angeles and Orange County and this rig delivers everytime... You're good to go Brother!

Brilliant! Just what I wanted to hear :)

Even the guy said in the store that two of these cabs is just plain awesome..but one is damn good on its own :)
