Aguilar DB750?

Hey all, I'm picking up a used Aguilar later this afternoon and two db12 cabs, at the moment I'm not in a band so my rig is going to be for home practice... I know the Aguilar has wayyy more power than I'll need but was wondering, how does it sound at low volumes?

My other options include GK mb500, Puma 500, Genz SL 900, and Aguilar Tone Hammer. I play a US Spector bass and cover several styles from metal to country rock. The other thing to consider is weight, I'd like a prtable modular setup but love the thunderous sound the DB750 puts out.

Any suggestions? :hiding:

I love the way the Aguilar db751 sounds at practice volume.

I've been on the lookout for a smaller head as well for travel/practice - but I've yet to find something that sounds as good as the db751 - even at lower volumes.

The TH500 is much more quick and SS sounding.
The Streamliner 900 is very warm (too warm) for me - to the point of being muddy.

I'm now off to trying the TC Electronics RH450 (still haven't played it yet).

So to answer your question - yes, it sounds great, even at lower volumes.

I love my DB750, but the fan noise is annoying when using it for low volume practice at home. You'd think they would have put a thermal sensor in them so fans only engage / speed up when the amp is pushed, not whirring away at full speed while idle. Was this corrected on the 751?

Love my 750 at all volumes, but I don't really rehearse with it much. I have had some fan noise issues in the studio with it, but I don't know if it would be enough to cause issues at practice volumes. I'll have to check it out...

(Usually I'm too busy/lazy to set up my rig for home practice. I just plug into my PC in my bedroom or the mixer in the studio downstairs...)

But I gotta reiterate... Love my 750!!!
