Aguilar GS112 Neo conversion: first impressions.

So now you have one cab with the stock speaker and one cab with the neo right? Just curious as to how they sound stacked together compared to when you had two with the stock speakers. Wondering if you get a best of both worlds scenario where you still get the nice fat Aguilar sound with a bit more punchiness.

The neo is rated 250 watts and the factory driver is rated 300. Does this mean that the factory driver will draw more power, or since they are both at 8 ohms will they receive equal power from the amp?

Don't mean to hijack the thread but which strings are making these cabs sound the best? I was thinking about some La Bella's or DR fat beams. Rock, Blues, Ambient styles.

I use TI JF344s or Ernie Ball Super Slinkies. The Jazz Flats on a single H bongo are really nice.

It is not so much what the speaker will draw, but what the amp will push. If the resistance/impedance of two speakers is the same, the amp will push the same amount of power. It is basically Ohm's law. For a quick review, see this:

Watts have nothing to do with that. They should draw equal power from the amp. It is possible that one could seem louder than the other, but that would be determined by the efficiency of the individual driver, and I'm sure the difference would be minute.

Those 250W and 300W figures represent the power handling ability of each driver, although there are many other factors to consider for true power handling characteristics, like xmax and xlim - the maximum excursion before bottoming out. The tuning of the cabinet plays a big role as well. Assuming the same impedance, both take equal amounts of power.

The GS112 is OK but my Epifani UL112 is more my thing. Kjung said the neo probably moves the Aggie toward the Epifani.

If I had to pick one it would be the Epi however the Epi and Aggie really match up well.

Kind gives that best of both worlds scenario.
