Okay my Low End Bros, If you had the choice of purchasing two (2) out of the four listed pedals made by Aguilar, which two (2) would you purchase and why?

TLC Compressor (Compression)
Filter Twin (Dual Envelope Filter)
Octamizer (Analog Octave)
Agro (Bass Overdrive)

Love to hear your feedback!

-Rich

I have all 4, so for me...........
Filter Twin and Agro.

Filter Twin first. Love love it. It's very vocal and musical. Not woompy like the MXR one.
I prefer the OC2 over the Octamizer and don't need a compressor.......so by default the Agro.

I find the Agro to be trebly and crispy at most settings. If that's the sound you like in a overdrive, you can't go wrong. (I'm more of a fuzz guy)

They are all great offering in their field.

i might as well get this out of the way...

depends 100% on the music you play, and your needs/tastes.

so, give us details and we can help ya out with advice on what might be best.

i'd probably go for the filter and agro.... i love filters and dont mind having several on hand, and i actually dont have any overdrive or fuzz right now, besides my VT bass.

It wasn't meant so much as a question on which I should buy, as much as it was meant to start a dialogue on the subject of Aguilar Pedals.... Thanks Bro! :)

I'd love to try out some Aggie pedals again. The one time I did, I was using the store's bass and its output was too hot and it overloaded all of the aggie pedals I tried- the filter twin and the octamizer. Those are the two I would get because I love octave down and filter effects, and I have an OD I really like.

aha.

well, i think they make great stuff all around. i can't believe how good their pickups (and amps/cabs) sound on Janeks bass. really amazing.

i'm so out of the pedal game these days its insane... so much classical DB playing.. so little electric playing at all...... hopefully in the next year i'll get a gig where i "need" more electronic stuff.

their octave pedal sounds awesome too.

Why haven't you listed the Tone Hammer? That would probably be first on my list. I had one and sold it because it was so perfectly "my sound" that I bought a TH amp, but now I want one back so I can effectively have two channels. :D

I own an Octamizer and find it to have the best tone of any octave pedal I've tried or heard.

As much as I wish I was sufficiently skilled or funky enough for a filter, they don't seem to work for me. But if they did, I'd get a Filter Twin!

I've considered picking up a TLC to use for utility compression and limiting. My Diamond takes care of tonal yumminess on my board, but I'm sure I could find a place for the TLC too.

The Agro...just doesn't seem to be my flavour of dirt. I think it is great at what it does, but my ears like the overdriven tones that come from cranking a Tone Hammer rather than the Agro.

Bottom line is I'm a huge Aguilar fan and I'd gladly own anything and everything they make. :D

Octamizer and Filter Twin would be my choice of those.
Why? I use the Octamizer and love it.
I'm not too interested in the Agro or TLC so by default it would be the Filter. Not to say they're not good pedals or anything, but I have my dirt and compression covered by other pedals.

I myself would go for the Agro and the Octamizer if I had nothing at all. I love octave and dirt pedals more than comps and filters. But filters are fun too. With my current setup, I would choose the Filter Twin and TLC, just because I dont have a dedicated comp or analogue octave..... Funny how that worked out huh? ;)

I already own a TLC Compressor, and I already have two effects that will give me all the effects-generated overdrive and distortion I would ever need. So it's the Filter Twin and the Octamizer - especially the Octamizer, since I've got a project that could really take advantage of the phat, warm, deep tones it generates.
