It has been quite sometime since I asked a question or commented in this thread. Hope all is well!

I was just wondering if you had messed around with the Aguilar pedals that are popping up. I am extremely excited about the new AGRO pedal and am contemplating purchasing the Octamizer.

What are your thoughts if you have tried them and is there an Octave pedal you prefer?

The Octamizer is an entirely different take on an octaver. The sound is "shaped" in a radical way. AMAZING. I say that unequivocally, in spite of endorsing the company.

The TLC Compressor is the first compressor pedal that I'll actually USE. It's amazing.

Don't know about the Agro pedal, but that's smart for them to do that!!!

How do you/what do you use the TLC on?

And yeah AGRO pedal ... just like rackmount minus the eq options. Looks like the other pedals in the line...4 knobs (Level, Saturation, Presence, Contour). I'm very excited for it. I tend to favor OD, Distortion, Fuzz etc. I usually don't find application for needing much else. I sold my AGRO a few months back trying to get away from rack gear. This is something I'm definitely going to pick up as I miss the AGRO sound.

I'm just used to 1176's, LA2A's, Distressors for bass, so pedal compressors have not been up to a flexibility or quality that I have been able to sink my teeth into. They just seemed too rough sounding for me. This one has (or can have) a transparency of tone that works for my taste.

justin, i'm with you on the studio comp only thing, but since i haven't found an 1176 or a federal in a pedal yet i've been kinda holding off...

is it really that good? anything you liken it to in the studio world? (please say 1176...)

i gotta call dave once the namm mayhem is over...

What I like about the Octamizer is the ability to dial in effect and still have a dry sound so it's not really all effect but rather an effect on you current tone.

As much as I liked the MXR I couldn't really separate the 2 tones and it was either all or nothing.

With the Octamizer I set my dry tone and then add in the amount I want. To me it cuts better and doesn't take away anything from your primary signal. At least that's my opinion. I love the thing ... and when you add in another effect (in my case an EBS BassIQ) it gets pretty intense. I really hope there's plans on the drawing board for an Aguilar envelope filter. I really like the idea of adding only the amount of effect you want but still retaining your normal tone.

The Aguilar site (I don't know if you saw this yet) has samples. [Invalid or Expired Link Removed] and you have to hear the one by Chris Kuffner called "Stevie Love"
With the BassIQ on it sounds like Stevie Wonder's "Higher Ground" tone .... or I should say Nathan Watt's tone

Well .... that's my 2 cents :D

I hate the new big octaver craze happening. I have a micro Pog on my board which I love to death for the sound I get. Then I tried the MXR and want one cause its beautiful in that vintage sort of warm and fuzzy way. And the octamizer seems in between the two from clips and I can see myself using that too....
so great, I'll have a board with 4 od/fuzz pedals and 4 octavers. Where do i count the rest?
specially the LEDs.....

Is it that good? No. Is it smooth and transparent, with the chance to dial in some punch? Absolutely. Better than other pedals. I don't know why, but it reminds me of my API 525, though it doesn't get anywhere near as effected and gnarly as that.
