Ok here’s the deal I have a Fender PJ bass which I love how the bass feels. The neck is perfect body weight is spot on. I replaced the stock pups with a set of EMGs. But the sound is lacking in that nice mid range gut punch. Now mind you I have a G&L L2000. Which yes I know will NOT sound anything like a Fender PJ. I wanted to add one of the Aggie preamps to give it a nice warm mid range punch. Out of the three which would be best? And if possible anyone try all three and what are your recommendations? If not Aggie is there something I should Look into. The type of music is punk hardcore. And I’m not a DG tone capsule guy lol.

I have the DB-924 preamp. It's pretty nice. I will say though that I put the HC J pickups in my alder Yamaha jazz and it is everything you could ever want in a jazz bass and more. Warm, funky, greasy goodness. It made a $100 bargain bass into a boutique monster. I have owned...Like every bass at this point. Vintage, modern, German - You name it. Now this is my all time favorite. The Yamaha was very resonant to begin with and always sounded good. That is until I dropped EMG's in it. I have had EMG's in tons of basses before and loved them. Those just did not work for that bass. I almost dumped the bass but really liked the way it played and sounded acoustically. Whole new animal now. Small tip I actually plug it into my padded input on my amp that you would normally put active basses into. Smooths it out a bit. I did it accidentally and was like Wow! A PJ set of these would be awesome. In the 90's that was my go to pickup set up. Now trying to figure out which bass is getting the next set of Aggies!
