Aguilar Tone Hammer pedal - battery vs. phantom power

I got the Tone Hammer pedal recently and am totally diggin' it. I like to use battery power when at home practicing and phantom power on the gig.

What powers the Tone Hammer when a DI line with phantom power is plugged into it and it also has batteries installed? Will something blow up? Do I need to disconnect the batteries to avoid draining them when plugged into phantom powered DI?
