Aguilar Tonehammer 350/500 + pedals?

Hello!

I am finally switching from guitar to bass, been enjoying it way too much lately and my guitars have been collecting dust.

I am in the process of selling my valve guitar amp, and I found a good deal on a ToneHammer 350 + SL112 locally.

I was wondering how well the Tonehammer accepts pedals? I was thinking of fuzzes like green muffs or pedals like a Rusty Box.

I know the AG line is meant to be a clean platform (in guitar terms I understand it as a Fender Twin hahaha), while the Tonehammer has that valve emulation going on with the AGS.

I use a lot of effects (dirt, fuzz, modulation etc) with a Tone Hammer DI at the end of my chain (same preamp as the TH amps) and have no issues. It's a pretty "voiced" preamp section so it will impart some color, but IMO it's a very agreeable one and for the most part I like what it does to my effected sounds.

I use a TON of various pedals with my TH500. It’s awesome with anything you throw at it. I quit using my VT Bass because the Aggie does dirt so well, even with more fuzzes & boosts thrown at it.

The Drive, Gain, and EQ SECTIONS are all very interactive. Use your ears, not your eyes. Turn those knobs, a lot.

Though I'd add: While the TH350 is more than capable, you might consider the 500 or 700 if your plan is to play it with a live drummer/band. The extra headroom is notable comparing the 350 to 500, extremely notable with the 700.

You are absolutely right! Sadly that TH350 + cab has been sold. And by some miracle, one of my favorite bands played a show in my city and the bass player was using as backline a TH500 + Rusty Box, the exact same combo I wanted to hear irl. I'll aim for the 500 now
