Ahoy!

Hey, absolute newbie from Worcester, MA here. I'm turning twenty soon (tomorrow) and thought now might be a good time to start learning to play bass guitar, which is something I've wanted to do for a while. I played violin for a number of years and sang in a choir throughout high school, so I know a little bit about music, but really I've only been able to spend a little bit of time messing around on a friend's bass, and still know virtually nothing about the instrument. I figure playing/learning will provide me with an awesomely fun hobby, and up my cool-factor. Plus, I live in a college dorm and it would be incredibly convenient to have an instrument which I can unplug and play softly enough that I don't disturb anyone.

I found my way over to TalkBass because I'm interested in knowing as much as I can about the bass (maintenance, theory, FX, etc.) and would love a place to go to bounce questions/ideas off of hardened veterans who are far more knowledgeable than I am.

Thanks, and I hope to see you all around a lot!
