Here is an example of trying to create a quick album cover, using the prompt "vintage black and white photo of an enormous cowboy giant standing on the street of a town in the American west". Took about 20 seconds to generate. Crazy.
Throw some type and a logo on this, and instant album art. Not sure what genre this would be, but you get the idea
How can you call yourself a “creator” when AI is doing the creating for you?
I’ve experimented a bit with image generation but I have played around a whole lot more with actual sound and music generation using both consumer-facing AI like Soundful, as well as using generative tools to create visual and audio material for various nerdy purposes.
I’m super glad that we’ll now have a place here on TB that will (hopefully) remain a place for those of us who are having fun with these tools. Thanks for getting this started - really forward to seeing what y’all have been creating and sharing stuff of my own!

Generating high-quality art using AI requires as much creative thinking as writing prose. Add to that, you need to know how to use the correct prompts and some basic machine language, which is often dependant on the particular tool that you’re using. The way you deal with prompts in Stable Diffusion is different than the way you deal with prompts in Dall-E.
I suggest you do some reading up on the topic if you want to participate in the conversation. If you’re just not into it, feel free to hit up another thread that fits more to your interests

i'm asking because i'd like to show very short segments with comments and/or questions in order to get comments and answers. i've made 30-60+ second "commercials" for my band, and a few "music videos," but i've never posted on youtube for say, 4-10 seconds.

i sure do get that. IMO, and in my very limited experience, so far, the online tools that we're talking about ATM definitely do the heavy lifting for folks like me. but learning how to manipulate the tools is also certainly part of the creative process. making the manipulations count or mean something has to involve the creative, no? or what about using AI 'creations' to create something else? maybe it's two creators: one is "thinking about it" and the other one "renders the results." it's a different paradigm --- this stuff called AI...

Depends how you use the tools. I use ChatGPT for ideas in lyrics. I do the writing, but AI alerts me to things I may not be thinking about. It's an extension of the songwriter's thesaurus for words that rhyme.
Example, I recently entered the following query: 'other expressions that mean "too little too late" or "insufficient activity"'
I got the following helpful responses...

It's a fair question. I mean, if we're talking about AI doing all the work—just pressing a button and a full song comes out—that's probably not the most creative endeavor for sure.
But there are a lot of ways to be creative with AI. You just have to, well, think creatively
IMO, one of the promising creative uses, right now, is the ability to birth your own, unique AI-generated photos, illustrations and video clips, then manipulate and re-combine those elements, along with other elements, into album art, flyers and videos.
I don't see much difference between a designer sourcing an image from a stock photography site, then manipulating it, and a designer prompting an AI engine to generate an image, then manipulating it.
Here's an example. Neither band nor graphic designer shot this photo. But it was used creatively to make one of the more iconic album covers of the 90s. If an AI created this source photo, based on the designer or band's prompts, would it be less legit?

Hmm not sure. I have really only hosted videos on youtube, and it seems to work, so that's what I've been sticking with. YT has a "shorts" section, and I think if your vid is under a certain time length, it will become one of those. But same deal I think, you can just link to it. Not sure if there is a minimum length needed.

We used MidJourney for both of these in different ways.
For this one, our initial idea was to do a lyric video and simply use the AI images to make the text more interesting. But as we got into it, the narrator is both remembering and imagining the future, and we got the idea of the imperfection of memory and imagination and basically got the prompts to (with many tires) get the image we wanted and then we had it render it over and over, subtly changing it each time. The prompts were mostly something containing 'Comic Book style, and generic white guy,' which always gives you Ryan Gosling for some reason. Our ghostly impositions are via shooting footage of the band in ridiculously bright environment, thus basically 'white screening.'
This one was when MidJourney was really new, so the prompts weren't what made it weird, it was just v1. As you can probably gather, we made a video slide show with the AI art and then used a film projector to with it on us wearing white.
These were both edited in Davinci Resolve.

Thank you for the kind words. They were even way more work than they may seem like because I am still at this point where basically every video is my band and/or kid having some ideas and me just screwing around until I figure it out.

i get it --- i've put in so many hours for my band's videos for which i've just used free stock video footage. you're actually creating! pretty cool to see those.

anyway, from watching: i know that the task was enormous. kudos!i'll have to check out davinci resolve. if you're using the 'studio version' you probably have everything you need. i've gotten used to VSDC pro ('cause it's cheap) and i know little-to-nothing about other video editors.
