Has anyone reviewed the new Coda+? I have to import one so I can't check it out first. I love my Contra but would couple the removable Coda+ head with bigger speakers as the situation requires.
If you have a Series III Contra the Coda+ is essentially the same thing, only louder. The Coda+ has the same preamp, x2 (with effects), and the power amp is essentially the same (as was the Clarus vs. Focus), and the speaker cabinet section is also the same, just has the redesigned top piece for the removable head. When we got the prototype Coda+ and Ten2 units a couple months ago we compared them side by side to a series III Contra.
Question for Bob: Do you think the Coda+ has the umph to stand alone in a loud jazz-rock combo (rhodes, guitar, drums and sax all reasonably loud), playing rooms of 100 person capacity? Thanks
Bob Can certainly answer this in more detail, but i would think that the additional front firing neo ten in the new cabinet would do the trick. Ric
That's really hard to say; reasonably loud is just too subjective. I'd say it is within the realm of possibility, but if somebody called me to sit in and says "loud jazz-rock" my gut tells me to bring a bigger rig. It has a lot of wattage but it's still a single 10" based combo. On the phone I usually ask what a player is currently using for the same purpose and if it just barely or easily cuts the gig... without a reference point it's just a guess.
