I play upright in a couple bluegrass groups. I mostly play acoustic upright, but I also have an NS stick bass. Nobody else plugs in. No drums, etc. I currently have a GK MBS III combo amp. It's nice, but it's getting heavier as I grow older. I'm want to sell the GK and get either an Upshot or Double Shot. Which would work best for me? Is the Double Shot more than I would need? Using it mostly as a monitor, but AI says the Upshot provide enough sound for other musicians on the stage. Thoughts?
I had a guy who plays DB and EB stop by looking for a rig for his EB. He brought his DB and an Upshot. I have to say the upshot sounds great and is really natural sounding. It isn't loud by EB standards... Not even small gig loud... But definitely provided more volume than the DB alone.
