Double Bass AKG C411L with K&K pre

Hi

I am just about to purchase a AKG C411 L contact mic for my bass.

Does anyone know if this setup will work? - Take the mini XLR off the mic cable, wire a 1/4 inch jack and use my K&K pre amp.

Invalid Link Removed

I have the dual channel, now called 'trinity' pre amp that has the single socket for both mic and pu. I have the trinity mic but never really got on well with it.

Will the 9v be enough power and will the XLR convert to a jack? I assume the jack is wired 3 core 'balanced' so I would be taking it down to 2 core

I looked at the phantom power unit that goes with the mic and it is only a 9v anyway. Plus I wouldn't need two mic channels.

Many thanks

Adrian,
If you look at Jonas Lohse's Double Bass Gear Guide, he lists the AKG 411 as a possibility for amplifying a Contrabass Link Removed.
I'd contact someone at AKG and see what will work with their product, that's the only way to know. Trying to re configure cables, and adapt a pre amp isn't for the faint of heart, and certainly out of my area of expertise.
