Al Cisneros Signature Bass

Discussion in 'Basses [BG]' started by OrphicTrench, Apr 20, 2019.

  1. This was posted about an hour ago on Rickenbacker's official Facebook page (Rickenbacker Guitars (Official)). Looks freaking orgiastic.

This is the original post (including pictures):

Hmm, no 5 string version? Since I've seen him playing a 5er Rick recently I would have assumed we would get one of those.

Would KILL for a six string Rick, but alas. If I ever do get one, Al will be the reason.

As far as I remember, he only plays the 5 string for a few certain songs.

It seems perfect for his playing style, but I don't think I could play it. I've been hoping for an Al signature model since I saw his 3 pickup 4004 SPC, but I think this is just too al-centric for me. I love the look of the new bridge, and almost love the guard (seems small....)

  8. I would love to hear that neck pickup in the sweet spot soloed.

I like everything except the green inlays, which need to be consigned to oblivion. And I say that as a guy who likes green.

The bridge pickup is pretty much in the sweet spot on a stock 4003 bass.

I love this. Do the green inlays look weird? Yes. Do the knobs look weird? Yes. But weird is better.

I like yours too, but yours doesn't have the cool new saddles the AC seems to have.

I like the feel of rounded bodies but a 400* looks weird without binding to me. however it looks like the 4003w is gonna stick around for a while if sog models are being based on it

Looks nice, Al is one of a kind bassist for sure. The pickups seem to be in approximatelly jazz positions? Interesting. The huge knobs and green inlays? Can not tell if I like these touches or not, it looks rather weird.

Agreed. Let's hope this soon becomes the stock bridge on ALL Rick basses.

Nice, but it needs horseshoe pickups to complete the deal and add that little extra heft.

I wonder if a 4003 is ever gonna come out of the factory without pickup covers

To me it doesn't seem like they care to alter/update design on the 4003 at all, even if it appeals to a good portion of their customers.

That new bridge would be the first major functional upgrade to the 4003 in a long time, hopefully not a one-off for this model. Hard to believe they’d go to the trouble of the engineering and casting if this wasn’t the new bridge for all 4003. You still can’t palm mute, but it’s a cool mix of modern and retro, I like it!
