Double Bass Aladar Pege - Donna Lee

I am so glad that someone actually noticed Aladar! He was one of the most influential DB player in Europe and a professor at the Budapest Music Academy! Winner of Bassist of the Year countless time, well respected in every corner of the planet, he didn’t just play bass he owned every note on his bass, that is probably why educated and informed Jazz Musicians called him the Paganini of the DB!!! There was a reason why Sue Mingus gave Charlie’s bass to Him!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! In this forum we talking about lot of great DB players as well as lot of not so interesting DB players Aladar Pege deserves heaps of recognition. If anyone in doubt just listen to Donna Lee on YouTube and just for a test, play that last section of the head with a piano at that speed and think of him when you brake your fingers doing it, he was 68 when he played that song! God rest his soul! Love you Ali
