Alembic cabs

Anyone know anything about these? I haven't been able to find anything about them online but I though someone here might know something?

Being an Alembic product I'm assuming they were magic but I've got to figure the magic has been negated by technological advancements.

I doubt I'm the only one here curious about these...

If I remember correctly they were really nicely made (and VERY heavy) cabs and I "think" they were only made for a few bands (never commercially sold). Every once in a while you'll spot one but the only thing original about it may be the shell. There were a few posts about them over on the alembic website forum a while ago.

I own two Alembic 2 x 15 Bass Cabinets and my brother Jeff owns two Alembic Guitar cabinets. They are very similar to the Bag End birch finished cabs.
We purchased them in the late 70's directly from Alembic. They are so big they shipped to us via American Airlines freight..we had to pick them up at JFK.
The bass and guitar cabs are made from 15 ply birch. They are extremely well made and they sound amazing. They came unloaded and we each put JBL's into these cabs. I had two K140s and two K 145s and drove these cabs with an early 70's SVT and a P Bass. The sounds was massive and crystal clear. The cabs are split..each 15 had its own compartment and each compartment was lined with a heavy padding. The face of the cabs had chicken wire - these cabs looked great on stage with those big silver domes from the K 140s shining through...

They are sitting in my basement..too big to haul. My brother Jeff still uses his ...he actually has the origianl JBLs in the cabs. They have been reconed but he loves them. I will see if I can post up some pics. Let me know if you have any additional questions Thanks DP
