Both of mine had gold keys, which with all the brass parts made a good match, and WAY cheaper than the full golf option. To me, the chrome tuners looked out of place.

Quad, Alembic builds from a catalog of body, neck, and headstock shapes, laminations of any numbers of 'stock' woods, and various finish combinations. They tend to be identified by the pickup/electronics package. My Spoiler Five was Series shaped in long scale, yet still termed a Spoiler as I had exactly the same electronics as your short scale.

So they build similar instruments, but due to unique to each customer requests, in many ways they're all one-offs, some more, some less similar to others due to the several hundred options they offer.

PS:. Get a FatBoy for the neck when you can, they sound like exceptional Music Man pickups, a bit meatier than the standard AXY's, which are exceptionally neutral.

Alembic Series II bass spotted on middle England television commercial.

I had no idea Severn-Trent was International. We use a lot of their equipment in my profession. (water treatment) I was just on the phone with tech support in Colmar, Pennsylvania the other day getting a return authorization for a a pair of vacuum regulators to be rebuilt. Cool gig there, Jazzy.

OH !! That was the real band ? They were kids when that song came out. I remember it was out when Huey Lewis "Sports" came out. A long time ago !

Yeah they did, i just took the best bass i have for the shoot just because it was TV. It was a fun day and we had loads of laughs. The original keyboard player was flown in from Canada for the shoot. I hope the outtakes get released and we do more.

Mica said it was an early Spoiler bass/Electrum guitar design, but I've only ever seen it on Distillate Exploiter basses.

Never seen a Spoiler with that headstock, indeed many Electrum guitars and Distillate exploiters. All Spoiler Exploiters I've seen had the cone shape.

Not sure why the one on the guitar peghead page is called Arrow, but the bass version is indeed the Bishop, and if you look at the 5 string pegheads there is the Arrow-like Tapered Cone (like on Jimmy Johnson's current basses, except he has them in 2+3) that is a distant cousin to the Large Cone that were used on some of the Spyders. My Spoiler has a peghead closest to a regular Cone except it is a bit pointier making it too narrow for the logo, so that sits just above the nut. Sometimes a one-off just happens.

Question for everyone: My band has an outdoor gig tonight in the Chicagoland area. Supposed to get down to 40 degrees, with wind it will probably feel like 35. How bad is it for my spoiler to be outside in that kind of weather for a few hours? I don't really have an alternative base to play but my guitar player mentioned bringing his second guitar player not his main one and now I'm worried.

All I can say is that basses get shipped in all kinds of weather for longer periods than that without damage. Maybe you should leave it in its case for awhile once you get it home to let it acclimate.
