Alembic Essence 5 - What's a fair price

Yes, it lights up like a Christmas tree. That's very cool, but I do kinda wish it also had the regular fret markers on the fingerboard. But, hey, I'm not complaining!

I've been not doing my regular work (as a freelance commercial artist) all day, and just wandering downstairs to play the bass. It really does play great.

Very cool bass. My first Alembic was an Essence 5 string. It was a workhorse for many a gig and it always sounded great.

Being a Series bass owner, you know all the tonal flexibility from the filters. Whereas the Series bass can sometimes be a little complicated in dialing the right tone, the Essence is a much simpler animal to deal with, yet yielding a true Alembic tone.

Have a ton of fun with your new purchase.

the one i am currently looking at doesn't have inlays on fretboard nor LEDs. and i'm okay with it. Checked it out twice and plays nice for having really old strings on it..It is around same age and in perfect condition for 2600 or obo. Finger crossed.

It is either a really really really great deal OR it's stolen OR it's a scam. I do not need any more basses, let alone another 5-string, but if this were local to me i'd own it by this evening. If you're local to it, ask to meet at a local music store. Before you go, go to Alembic.com and check their list of stolen instruments so that when you see this one, you can compare the serial # to the list you make from Alembic's list. If you are not local to it, I would suggest trying to Skype with the seller or some other method of proving that he REALLY has the bass before going any further. Maybe have him email you a picture taken with something that has a recent date on it or a picture with his hand pointing to a specific part of the bass (a photo that is not likely to exist on its own, so he'd have to take a picture just for you).
