The Series I put Alembic on the map for good reason - the eye-catching shape, hi-fi filter-based preamp, and its unmistakable sound and presence.

This bass was built in 1978 and is in remarkable condition for its age. No peghead repairs or aftermarket non-Alembic electronics.

Stats:

Serial Number: #78 1122
Body: Myrtle top and back, mahogany core. Zebrawood veneer peghead with mahogany ears.
Strings: 4
Frets: 24
Scale: 34"
Pickups: two single coil pickups, with hum-cancelling dummy "middle pickup"
Controls: pickup selector (standby/neck/both/bridge), two volume knobs, two filter sweep knobs, two 3-position switches for the boost at the cutoff frequency.
Also has Schaller Straplocks installed.

The 1/4" cable jack is wired for stereo, so you would need a 1/4" stereo to mono cable if one were to run the bass off battery power.

Includes the OHSC which is a little worn but fully functional. Also includes 18v outboard power supply/signal splitter and two 5-pin cables - one 20', one 40'.

Partial trade offers considered if you're local.

What is the weight on the bass. I have owned many Alembic Series I basses in the past. Some heavier than others. Just curious of yours before I get interested.

Thanks Eric

Between 10-11 lbs is the Goldilocks weight for me. Anything less feels toyish, anything more can be a bit of a slog. Another Alembic I had was 12.5 (solid Maple/Purpleheart) and my EGC aluminum/acrylic is 14 lbs but balanced nicely. This Series I is definitely the comfiest to play, standing or sitting.
