I've been subbing for a female fronted band recently, and we had to whip up some tunes real fast for a guitarist who didn't have time to learn tunes... so I speak from some bit of wisdom on this one:

Benetar is a great place to be - easy sounds (but not just 1-4-5);

Old Stones / Jimi / Cream

Bad Co - "Can't get enough of your love" is dead easy to play.

Pretenders / blondie - heck, you have a huge list there

Etta James / 'retha Franklin.. No, I'm not kidding - - Great swingin' music - it's just not loud rock & roll. "Tell Mama", Miss Pitiful, Respect, Chain of fools.

Aweseom stuff! I'm getting an all girl rock band together myself and looking to do a few covers to fill out the setlist.

Do some Jefferson Airplane, we're doing Somebody To Love which is pretty easy. White Rabbit is also both awesome and simple.

Thanks for the ideas. It's hard when you get set in a particular group of songs. I personally love hair bands and gravitate towards them. Then its hard to think of anything else for me. But we like all kinds of classic rock type stuff. We will throw in a little rockabilly too if we find the right songs.

Keep them coming if you got more!! Love to hear your ideas. I will check them out when I get home so I can actually listen to them. We are playing "Cherry Bomb" it really doesn't get easier than that.

Rock and Roll or Black dog by Led Zep.

Not to derail the thread, but being able to playing "Black Dog" well is very different from being able to play "Rock and Roll" well. My advice to the OP is that Black Dog doesn't fall into the category of "songs that are dead easy to learn."

Around here, Hair band stuff is huge and will pack the dance floor consistently.

Yeah, the hair band stuff works here too as long as it's not too hard. Bon Jovi, Def Leppard, Ted Nugent, Kid Rock, Scorpions.....people love it here. Anything upbeat and classic will go over well.

12 songs of GREEN DAY??? UGH! Id quit playing if I had to do that. 2 TOPS!
