All Good Basses Go to Heaven

I've always had the most random thoughts about the afterlife. I know there will be much, much bassplaying there, but I have always wondered what we will end up playing. Will we have our rigs from Earth, or will God be generous enough to give us our "dream rigs"? I wouldn't mind having a six string Rick and a Kustom stack, that'd be amazing.

But, however, you have to wonder about the afterlife of our basses, also. Do basses perish, or do they live on into eternity even when they're rotten scrapwood? And if they do perish, do all basses go to heaven?

Give me some opinions, guys.

Another thing, do you think my Traben will be jealous of my Heaven-Rick? :hiding:

Sure

Speaking as member #77 of the Atheist Bass Players Club, I simply disagree with the basic premise - No Offense intended

OTOH in the interest of taking the most broad-minded approach possible, if I did accept the basic premise (existence of both God and Heaven), I would certainly hope to leave mere electric bass guitars and amplifiers far behind and move up to the Ultimate bass instrument:

A Midwestern US thunderstorm

Think about it. Gazillions of watts of power, low notes below even a detuned B string, mids to move mountains - a rig capable of blowing away 500 Marshall stacks all lined up in a row, with the greatest of ease

Of course, team player that I am, most of this power would be kept in reserve and used only if the guitard felt the need to start a volume war - in which case all the knobs get twisted up to 11 and I crush him like a bug :D

I would like to think that all good basses will be reborn. In fact, if you think about it, we see the proof that reincarnation is real almost everyday here in the TB community. There are always the "look what I'm rebuilding" threads. There are good TBers here that will take just about anything that a normal person would call dead and breath new life into them. The ultimate form of reincarnation.

After all the crap we go through down here, I have to believe that there's got to be a 5 string Am. Dlx. P (Butterscotch Blonde, if you please) and like a 1000 watt Behringer waiting for me up there...

Ever really want something and then once you get it, be disappointed? I think in heaven we'll either have the bass/rig we already have because we love it and it's ours, or we'll get a bass/rig we'll TRULY enjoy, we'll pick the bass up and it'll be like it was made for us...because it was...

LOL I don't know, just speculating on your speculation.

The other day my bass starts talking to me...

Bass (his name is Rusty)

Hey

Me

Holy Crap my bass can talk

Rusty (the bass guitar)

You know its been creeping me out the way you put your hands all over me

Me

Really?

Rusty (the bass guitar)

Its not that you are not gentle its when you eat bacon and It gets into the pores of my wood and I'm a Muslim

Me

Oh wow I'm really sorry

Rusty (the bass guitar)

Its cool, just wash your hands better

Me

So wow so you're a Muslim?

Rusty (the bass guitar)

No, not really I was just messing with you :D

On a slightly serious note...

Many theologians think that Heaven is a perfection of the created order. That could be interpreted to include all permutations of sound. Who's to say that that sound won't be eminating from "perfected" basses and amps.

On a less Serious note...

Bad Basses go to Subway guitars where their necks will be attached to off brand ES335 guitar bodies and their bodies will be mated to danelectro necks. There they will reside in shame and degredation and shall be given names like "Subraze" and "Jizzcaster".

Oh, the humanity...
