all strings buzz at 15th and higher? (action is high, truss is good)

I just picked up an Ibanez btb1000.

All the strings buzz from about the 15th fret and higher.
Any idea why this is?

The neck has an fair amount of up bow. would too much bow cause this?
I even tried raising the action on the strings to a silly-high level, but still buzzing on all once you play higher on the neck...
Also put new strings on, though it was doing it with the old strings too.

Thoughts?

Try flattening the neck by tightening the truss rod. Worth a shot, but my guess is you have the classic "rising tongue" problem, which will require fretwork to correct.

Sounds like a classic ski jump. Cannot be addressed by trussrod. Also sounds like it's too severe to be fixed by milling down the high frets, so you're looking at some extensive neckwork.

Unless you're madly in love with this bass, you might consider returning it, if that's possible.

In these issues a really good picture helps a lot but it does sound like a ski-jump. You might consider letting someone look at it because a "fair amount" of bow could actually be quite extreme. But if it's difficult to discern, if you're jacking the saddles up to the sky and you're still getting a problem a better move would be to try to return it. If it's the $1000+ Japanese product you may want to gamble on a GOOD quality setup from a pro (that not someone who assembles items for display at a major retail chain....but a serious repair person).

Depending on how bad it is, a tech may be able to fix it by filing down your frets from the 12th fret to the end of the neck...it really just depends on how bad the problem is.
