All of my Roscoe’s have been “Plus” models and they are every bit as Roscoe as the “upper” models (made in the same shop by the same people) and honestly I think I prefer them to the fancy carved top models. Enjoy. It probably won’t be your only.

Actually, I’m pretty sure that you had a 3006 Custom with a real pretty carved top that you bought used from Greg at Rocket.
That wasn’t a carved top. It was very pretty but it was a plain old Century Plus. The quilt maple top was ridiculous on it, as was the Wenge board. Imagine how that would look with a gloss finish!

Oh yeah, that one. It was a red SKB 5. Gorgeous bass. I made him play it for me over the phone so I could hear it. I think he was a little annoyed but he did make the sale. I was nervous about spending that kind of money on a bass of which I was unfamiliar other than Jimmy Haslip.jogging your memory yet?
It was beautiful but I don’t have any pics. I played it at a gig shortly after I received it and a drummer whom I deeply respect couldn’t stop taking about it.
I do remember the “reach” for 1st fret because of how an SKB hangs. I almost gave up on Roscoe. I know some people think it’s bs but it’s real for me. Luckily, I was able to try Ryan’s Century 5 which felt MUCH better to me. That lead me in part to ordering my first “built for me” Roscoe, Century 6.

Scored some sweet Ulyate PJ5 AlnicoV pickups for my Roscoe Custom Classic. The bass came with Aguilar pups and I just wasn't vibing with them. They did sound good in an "all around use" way, but I have other basses with modern sounds when I need it. These Ulyates maybe have an ever-so-slightly less plump low end, but altogether they have a much more authentic "Jazz Bass" sound with a nice growl and biting presence, and low end can be added in the eq (though I usually run it passive). One thing I am most thankful for is the shell size. The Aguilars (now out of production) have a weird elongated P shell which no other manufacturer seems to use, so finding replacement options was proving to be difficult. I am aware Roscoe uses a double routing in the neck position where either P or J shells can be used, and I do have a second pickguard I ordered from Roscoe. But, being picky here, the J rout guard is a little more "red" of a tortoiseshell where the P guard in the picture is a nice deep burgundy(?) tortoiseshell which really compliments the Pau Ferro fingerboard. The red guard just stood out oddly to me, but would likely look good against a maple fingerboard, or with a body color other than Aztec Gold.
Also, made a new set of knobs again! Made them using Bloodwood. The knurling is a new technique for me and I'm still getting the hang of it, but I'm happy with how these turned out.

I love the gold finish too. Does Keith call that Shoreline Gold? I love that color!
So much that I recently picked up a 5 string Jazz in that color.
I’m not 100% sure of the color name as I bought this bass used. I was assuming it was called “Aztec Gold” based off the options listed on the Roscoe website.
I know that there’s quite a few names for gold and even the colors that different builders/manufacturers use that are called Shoreline Gold or Aztec Gold look totally different.
Regardless, I love that color on Fender style basses!
Good work finding the Ulyates that you like. I think Honey Badgers were also used at the beginning of the Roscoe Classic series. I believe that @SteveC has a nice Classic P with the Honey Badger, and he loves it. The company appears to be out of business, while the used market occasionally offers purchase opportunity.
I do indeed and I’m playing it tonight for a gig with a singer/songwriter, husband/wife acoustic duo for a museum concert series.
Stopped by the shop today to pick up my Century 5 P/J; it needed a check-up. New output jack, new active/passive switch, replaced two knobs, checked electronics, Plek and setup with new strings (Dunlop Nickel Super Brights). I also asked if he could write a new build letter. Since it’s one of the basses featured in the video on the website I thought it would be good for it to have one. Perhaps because it was a NAMM show bass it didn’t come with one? @JOME77 any idea who the original owner was?
We talked 6 strings a little bit and I got to try a really nice LG 6 that was on its way overseas. Lots of options to consider….

I purchased that Roscoe PJ from Chris Lykins and it didn’t come with the letter. Not sure if he was the original owner.

So years ago 1998-2000) my youngest daughter kept bringing over a couple young boys for school (that lived in the neighborhood). I knew one of them because I played in a band with his uncle, but didn’t know the other boy that well. After a several months went by my daughter came home one day and said that kids daddy played bass in Lynard Skynard. I said, that boy is lying to you. She said, no for real he does. I ask her what his last name was and she said Wilkeson. Lee Wilkeson (short for Leon)! Turned out it was his son and he lived in Warner Robins with his grandmother!

Warner Robbins is a storied place, apparently, which I love. Fond memories of visiting my AFB music friends there.
