Did you get to go see them? Were one of the 350,000 in the streets, or better yet in the Centennial Hall? If so, please elaborate. I never got within a hundred miles of any of them until Paul's Earth Day Concert in the Houston, Texas Astrodome in the early '90s, which was fantastic, of course. But to see them in '64 at the height of Beatlemania must have been mind blowing!

Well to tell the truth I was only 13 and my parents were very religious protestants and wouldnt allow me to travel by bus into town to see them..I was banned loll..and watched in case I tried to sneak away. Adelaide had a notorious bad history at that time of child disappearances, kidnappings, abductions etc and 18 months after the Beatles 1964 visit The most baffling case (still open today) of the 3 missing Beaumont children made headlines around the world. In view of this horror on Adelaide's streets my parents were very concerned for me as I was a bit of a rebel..learning on a bass guitar that I pestered my dad for and I was known to wander into Adelaide city on the bus occasionally just to hit the music shops.
I guess I was over-protected in a way but these days grateful for my parents upbringing they gave me.
So ultimately I missed seeing them live but we saw them on all the TV broadcasts.
The Beatles had Jimmie Nicol, a drummer, fill in for Ringo who couldnt travel under doctors orders due to tonsillitis. He was to join the tour later when cleared of infection..that is a documented big story on its own if you google it.
We lived only 15 minutes from the heart of Adelaide where they were staying and you could stand outside and hear the noise of the kids from town cheering..It was great to hear that at least lol
The Adelaide Advertiser (who my dad worked for) newspaper reported the next day "350,000 lined Anzac Highway just to get a glimpse of the fab four as they were driven from the airport to a tumultuous reception at the Adelaide Town Hall and then through huge crowds to the South Australian Hotel on North Terrace."
Sorry to disappoint you Doggy but I missed seeing them live too.
Funnily enough though back in the early 70's I got to play on the very stage where Paul stood with his Hofner. My band at the time Quicksilver were booked quite a few times in Centennial Hall for various large functions and gigs. It always gave me a thrill playing at 23 years old there knowing I was standing exactly where Paul did 10 years earlier lol.

Zoot comprised of singer Darryl Cotton, Bass Beeb Birtles (Little River Band Later), Rick Springfield Lead Guitar..all three made a big impact in music worldwide later on.
But playing on the same stage, the same spot!, a few years later is pretty darn good!!
