Why, yes. Yes, it is. That's my very favorite foot, though the other is a very close second! :smug:

The amp came with my very first electric guitar, a very high action Kauai. I don't remember the specs. Probably no more than 5, all tube, watts into an 8" speaker. It was great, until my guitar buddy got a Sears Silvertone Twin Twelve 1484 and then found me an identical used one (shown) that I could afford! :woot:

Yes, but my foot's not on the Silvertone. ;)

My buddy and I had matching Silvertones. He played lead, while I played rhythm and sang. We never saw any other Silvertones like these back then. We lusted for, but couldn't afford, the Fender blackface amps of the time that "everybody" else seemed to have.

The bass-owner in our band, who couldn't actually play, had a beefier Silvertone 1466. It sounded great when he occasionally hit the right note at the right time! :facepalm:

Aha! My buddy had the 2-12 Silvertone. At first we plugged everything into it, until I picked up my 15 watt Kay "Bass Amp" with a 15" Jensen, open back. It sounded just OK, but I was still very proud of it. I'm not even sure I was lusting for Fender yet, but I had big eyes for VOX! I never got a Vox amp, though I had a couple Vox basses. Not too many years later I was in fact playing a '64 Jazz bass through a Bassman into a homemade folded horn 15. ...not bad for '69.

Very cool, Tom. We would have preferred our bass-owner to have a 15/15 Kay bass amp and be able to actually play, than the Silvertone he had and not be able to play.

Ironically, our bass-owner's little brother was a guitar prodigy and he made enough money with his band to buy a Vox Super Beatle, which everybody wanted at the time. The one night our band played just before their band the kid brother generously offered us the use of his Vox! :woot: We plugged rhythm, bass, lead and organ into it, with his approval, and couldn't tell who was playing what! But it was fun. The Beatles sure sold a lot of Vox, Hofner and Rickenbacker gear then!

Dear George,

You once said to us—the world is full of arseholes, and I’m not one of them. I have a love for certain people and I have one for you, but by sheer lack of contact it’s running out. I phone you frequently and never get a reply. This is what you do, it’s very simple; you stand in front of a telephone and you insert your fingers in the holes and carry out a series of numbers which have been given to you. Of course, if you are rich you have two buttons, which Irishmen usually sew on their coats.

Of course, if you are extremely rich you don’t have to get in touch with anybody, and that’s what I am worried about. The funeral takes place at Golders Green Crematorium, no flowers please, just money. You will recognise me, I am the dead one.

That is not George's sister in the picture with him, it's his mom & dad. :laugh: But, for some unknown reason, it seems to have become associated with this trip! :confused:

I previously posted this video about George's 1963 trip to America that's worth watching.

There's also this article about his trip that's a good read. Would love to read more about that.

I was especially fascinated about George playing with a local Illinois band, The Four Vests! Would like to see a TV movie about that!!
