On November 27th 1970 George Harrison Released his greatest work and no doubt the greatest solo Beatle album ever.
Using an all star line up of friends and musicians including Ringo, Klaus Voormann, Badfinger, all of the yet to be formed Derick and The Dominoes, Jim Price, Dave Mason, Phil Collins and Alan White, Gary Brooker, Peter Frampton and many others it was recorded at Abbey Road.
It was probably about the third album I bought after Tommy and the White Album and I feel both versions hold up today very well though the Apple Jam bits have never been favorites.

Greatest solo slbum ever? Hmm, not quite, but one of, at least. Definitely an end-of-an-era statement, and, in spite of plenty of up sounding songs, there’s a cloak of melancholy about it. He’d been stocking up so many great songs for long time at that point, so there’s more killer and less filler than his later albums. It also helped that audiences were jonesing for anything Beatles at that point. That first McCartney album was uneven, and while John’s first was substantial, it was a bit intense, a little too real. I was fortunate to see George’s ‘75 tour.

Perhaps the greatest solo Beatle album anyway.
It was certainly melancholy, especially with the original mix and Spector production which was buried in acres of reverb.
Definitely the end of an era.

It's up there with Band On The Run as one of my favorites of the Beatle solo releases.

I can't say I've heard every solo former Beatles' album but for me it's the best by a Beatle and most ambitious and mature, followed closely behind by some of Lennon's stuff.
