ALMOST a NBD ... deeply disappointed in dublin

As some of you may be aware, hand injury has forced me to stop playing my beloved Precision, and I've decided to try out a short-scale instead.
Following a lot of research on here I chose an Epiphone Rumblekat.
As there wasn't one to be had in any music store in Ireland, I asked a local store (Music Outlet, in Swords, Co. Dublin) to order in one, as they price match with the big online Germans, and this meant they cover warranty if anything goes wrong, and they also do a great setup service..
We put in the order, for the bass and matching case.
Got a phone call first thing this morning to say it'd arrived.
Despite being off work with a flu/cold/imminent death type illness, I drove out to collect it.
When I arrived the guy was extremely apologetic.

The case had arrived.


Just the case.


On it's own.


Empty, as it were.*


No Rumblekat inside.



I'm baffled as to why they would ship separately... some lad having a laugh, maybe?
Anyway, a couple of phone calls later, I am guaranteed the bass will be in tomorrow so watch out for a real NBD post shortly afterwards.
Also, when I'm better, I'll be packing a baseball bat and calling on the clowns who shipped this for a friendly discussion.

In fairness, the store manager was probably even more annoyed than I was.
I was there when he called the supplier and believe me, he tore strips off them.

I had a frustrating bass shipment experience many years ago. A new Gibson EB-0 was part of a promotional deal when I purchased my new Quilter amp and cab. Picked up the amp rig at Quilter (I lived just minutes away from their old shop). The bass needed to ship to Quilter from the old Gibson factory in Kalamazoo Michigan. Day after day went by with no bass. Pat Quilter called Gibson and got confirmation of shipment (this was long before internet tracking). Finally a month later the bass arrived. Turns out the trucking company (an actual LTL carrier, not UPS or FedEx) accidentally unloaded it at a terminal in Colorado and it sat there for weeks until someone noticed.

I'm sure when your bass arrives it will facilitate your recovery.

Years ago I guy I know who is a Harley legend in these parts showed me a brand new in the crate Harley VL frame he had way back in his stash of rusty gold. He lived in a tiny town in SE Alabama that was basically a cotton mill and a railroad siding to service the mill. At some point the VL frame was mistakenly unloaded at the mill and stuck back in a warehouse attic where it sat forgotten under mounds of old cotton bale wrappers until the old mill had been long out of business and was being torn down to make way for a sock factory that would become the new business in town. My friend had a friend working on the demo and he spotted the frame in it's crate. It still had the shipping label stapled to the crate and when this guy saw it was from HD, he rerouted it from the trash roll off to the back of his truck and took it to my friend, who gave him $40 for it.

If the case isn’t included with the bass, the bass and case are boxed separately at the factory, and that’s how the retailer receives them.

Well that's the thing. They were ordered as a set. Anyways, it all worked out in the end.
