Almost no effects.... am I nuts????

Micolao, the Behringer "works", so if you need a limiter for only $20 USD, and you are willing to deal with the poor construction quality and higher noise level, then go for it. If you can find a used Guyatone BL-2, it is similarly cheap (in both price and construction), but it has lower noise than the Behringer. ALL cheap limiters have some artifacts like that "pop" sound.

I think I'm not going to use the enhancer, but I want to avoid the "pop" you're talking about or some strange effect as much as possible.
I play in DADG and I need to level the volume between strings on my picking, especially live...

I would keep the "ratio" knob below noon (midpoint). Maybe start with it at 9:00 or 10:00. The threshold and level knobs will be completely dependent on the output of your bass.
If you read the title of the thread, it's a lot more relevant than the people who are posting their effects settings.Not only does this not make any sense, I fail to see why it's relevant at all.

I don't use effects , but I've used a DS1 (distortion) and a Boss chorus , those are the only effects I like for bass . I also own a FX25 but I never use it

You really haven't tried too many pedals, have you? Saying you like the Boss DS-1 is like saying "I'm really a guitarist... no low end for me!"
...it's not too bad of a pedal, really, but given the dozens of quality overdrive and distortion pedals for bass, trying one of the better ones will make you almost certainly hate the DS-1.
Of course, trying other pedals will also get you on a dark path to effects GAS
I just bought myself 3 new pedals (justified in my mind by my tax refund). I got myself a flanger, a tremelo (both Boss), and a Little Big Muff. This is in addition to my Sansamp, Punch Factory, Delay, Chorus, and Whammy pedals.
I don't need any of the effects, but I enjoy them very much
Personally I love having the Whammy pedal. Having dynamic control over pitch with the pedal is just a blast to play around with. I'm highly considering adding a Wah to the arsenal for the same reason.
It all depends on what you want to play and what sounds you might want to add. The main thing is that you can just add to an already good tone. There's nothing wrong with not having any effects if you don't need any effects. But as they say, "variety is the spice of life". I like to keep a lot of spices available

I think the op states he whants more Omph..
Adding fuzz or overdrive in a blend channel (or blendloopbox..) would definetly help.. Im getting 2 VFB-X's from Barge... As soon as their avalible... The ability to blend the fuzz and dry signal seperatly from my other effects through an Expression pedal is to me the best thing since Rocketchees..

I just downsized my board to DT-10bk,Punch Factory,Muff'n,Boss CE-5 and the Morley wah II.
