Almost no sound from GK Backline 112

Was working fine; next time I turn it on, nothing. Well, almost nothing, there is the smallest amount of sound, less than the strings make, but there is some sound coming through. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks,
Matt

Start checking the basics, swap out:
- instrument cable
- speaker cable
- check all settings on amp and bass to make sure volumes are up

Did you notice any funny smells the time before? You can try pushing lightly on the speaker cone to see if it’s moving freely. If not, you might have caused damage there.

Plugged the speaker into another amp and it works fine.
No Smells, burned electronic or other
plugged exact same cord/instrument setup into another amp and works fine

Do you have an effects return on that amp? What happens when you plug into that rather than your input?

If you are using the same cables and bass and they work with another amp then it sounds like you are diagnosing some issue with the GK.

No effects loop on it but it does have some extra jacks, one is an AB switch jack to switch between channels. Could be that one, huh?

Matt, sometimes jacks can get corroded and need cleaning, especially if you don't use them much. Best way to clean them is with Deoxit, but you can also jab a 1/4" plug in and out of them several times fast to knock off the corrosion good enough to see if that's the problem. If not, then you might want to consider whether it's worth it to take it in for service.

I have one with the same issue. It was my one trip rehearsal amp, and I used to push her a little bit. It would get warm. One day she up and died. The preamp out works fine, but the power section is toast. I keep it as a wedge cabinet now. Its a great amp Id love to have it fixed, but not sure that's economical. I run a 400 RB into the cab sometimes.
