So I am thinking it is time for me to pull the trigger on a new amp. Let me tell you what I am thinking about getting and see what suggestions, opinions, thoughts, smart remarks, chastizements, etc. you all have.
disclaimer: I know I will get a lot of "just play them and see which one you like best..." and "what's right for others won't be right for you..." type posts and thats OK. I am pretty much decided on what I want and what I think sounds good but just want to hear some opinions from others.
So my first thought about what to buy is this (included are prices I have been quoted):
Ampeg SVT 2 Pro - $1375
Ampeg SVT 410 HLF - $568
Ampeg SVT 15E - $341
A couple questions: How much different is the SVT-CL from the 2 Pro? I have thought about the CL as well. Any opinions on the differences between these two amps?
Should I be looking for a different cabinet configuration? As of now I mostly play small venues but will probably be doing some outdoor stuff in the summer. Should I be looking at something bigger or would that just blow the small venues away?
Any other cabinets I should be checking out in this price range? I like the Ampeg cabs but are there any strong opinions about some others I might like better?
Just looking for some input, affirmations, deterants, etc.
